One Month Old!!!

We can’t believe it! Benjamin is one month old! It is amazing how fast time flies and how much has changed. Mark and I are enjoying everyday with our little guy and watching him change and grow. He smiled at me today which made me so so happy! Ben is more and more aware of the world around him each day. He turns and looks at us when we talk to him and he LOVES looking at faces especially when we make silly sounds. I am getting more sleep which is great (and Mark is happy about that too). Ben is a good sleeper and only wakes up once at night to be fed. Last night he slept from 9PM until 4AM! I could not believe it! I had to check on him and makre sure he was still breathing, and of course he was . So everyone is doing well and are feeling more rested! Mark and Ben are off on a hike this afternoon, doing a little male bonding which means I get a break and have time to update this blog. Until next time…..

Benjamin at 2 weeks

The past 2 weeks have flown by and so has the sleep! Mark and I are pretty tired but we are finding something that resembles a routine! Mark has been amazingly helpful waking up to do feedings and diaper changes so that I can get some extra sleep! He is a great dad and Benjamin loves to fall asleep on his chest. Benjamin is growing and growing his face is getting rounder and fuller. He has already surpassed his birth-weight (he gained almost an entire pound in one week) weighing about 7.6 pounds (as of Wednesday…probably more now) and is now measuring 21.5 inches! He has almost outgrown all of his newborn clothes so we need to fugure something out fast! We are growing fonder of the little guy each day and look forward to longer stretches of sleep to come in the next weeks as he grows up. We took Ben to REI today, we figured its never too early to introduce him to the joys of shopping for outdoor gear! We even looked at some child climbing harnesses….but he has to be at least 5 to use one! Mark and I enjoyed getting out of the house and spending some time as a little family. Welcome Benjamin! 7.25 Pounds, 20 inches long, a whole lot of cute!

He’s here! I thought it would never happen (wink wink) but no one is pregnant forever which I know now is true. I went to my doctor’s apppointment Tuesday August 25th a day past my due date. After a very LONG check up and ultrasound the doctor decided that I needed to be induced….right away! My amniotic fluid was low and his head was in a precarious position. So two hours later Mark and I checked in to the hospital and the doctor and nurses started the inducement process. In the end my labor lasted about 30 hours before the doctor decided to perform a C-section. Little Ben was in distress and I was exhausted and mentally spent. I was definitley nervous about the C-section and a little disappointed that we were now on that path but I had GREAT doctor and Mark was my hero talking me through everything. So after prepping my for surgery they wheeled me in the OR, Mark by my side and about 30 minutes later we heard the most thrilling sound in the world: Benjamin crying. We were both in tears and felt so happy and relieved to finally be able to hold our little boy. As far as “best day of my life” Ben’s birthday takes the cake! So we are enjoying getting to know our new son and getting some rest too!

Labor..Progressing

So I went in to the hospital this afternoon because I was having a lot back pain and thought I might be having contractions and they hooked me up to a monitor to check and see….and I was right I was! They were coming 5-7 minutes apart but the doctor still sent me home because I have not dialated enough. She thinks he will be born sometime in the next day or two, so we are trying to rest at home (do the early labor here) and then go back after the contractions start getting really intense. Right now things feel bearable but I am not sure if much sleep will be on the menu for tonight! Mark rented us some movies and took off work so we will try to “enjoy” some time together before two becomes three!

Nothing new to report….still waiting!

I had another Dr. visit today, but nothing new is happening so I have to sit tight awhile longer! I can’t believe my due date is coming so soon! My doctor wants me to go into labor this weekend since she is “on call” so maybe some wishful thinking on her behalf will help get things going? Until then, I’ll keep up with my daily hikes and enjoy my free time…I have a stack of books to get through! Thanks everyone for your comments, thoughts, and prayers we appreciate it!

38 weeks and counting!!!

So nothing happening yet but mom is trying to walk everyday and stay positive. Waiting is hard!!! We’ve been doing a little more work on Ben’s room in the meantime, hoping to have everything ready by the time he comes.
